Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21
Dassel-Cokato Community Theatre invites you to MACT*Fest 2015 here at the PAC this weekend, Friday and Saturday, March 20 & 21, 2015!
Community Theatre groups from all over Minnesota will converge on the Dassel-Cokato Performing Arts Center in Dassel-Cokato High School on March 20-21 to duke it out in Minnesota’s biennial one act play competition: MACT*Fest. Sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres (MACT), MACT*Fest will feature theatres from Grand Marais, Pipestone, Lanesboro, Marshall and six other communities...including hometown host Dassel-Cokato...vying for one of two bids to represent the state of Minnesota at the regional contest in April, and perhaps on to the national festival in June.
The ten shows to be presented range from rip-snorting’ musical comedies to heart-wrenching tragedies, but all must be performed in just an hour, and with only 10 minutes to set up and another 10 minutes to take down. Tickets may be purchased for afternoon performance sessions (three plays beginning at 1:00 p.m.) or for evening performance sessions (two plays beginning at 7:00 p.m.) on either Friday or Saturday for just $15 for adults and $10 for students.
In addition to the performances, workshops will also be presented Friday and Saturday mornings on topics from stage swordplay (presented by David Metcalf, Cokato), Yoga relaxation techniques (presented by Zan Thrasher, DCMS Teacher) to auditioning to musical theatre and more for $10 each, $5 for students. For the full lineup of events or to purchase tickets go to www.mact.net or call MACT at 612/548-1733. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Questions about the festival and/or volunteer opportunities may be directed to Deborah Moen, D-C's MACT*Fest Coordinator, at 612/236-5137.
