Welcome to D-C Early Childhood Family Education
"Serving the communities of Dassel and Cokato for over 30 years."
As most of you have heard, the first 5 years of a child's life are the most important for their development. Our programs, ECFE and Preschool, are here to help guide parents and caregivers of young children during these critical years. We are here to support families, giving children opportunities to discover and learn along with parents and caregivers.

Early Childhood Screening
Early childhood developmental screening helps a school district identify children who may benefit from district and community resources available to help in their development . Screening is for all children who are between 3 1/2 and 5. It is beneficial to complete the screening process as close to
3 1/2 as possible to identify possible health and learning concerns at an early age in order to help prevent them from becoming more serious. All children are required to have Early Childhood Screening prior to entering kindergarten. During screening, a qualified staff of nurses, early childhood teachers, and trained personnel will check your child's development, speech, language, vision, hearing, height, weight, immunization review, as well as a review of other factors that may interfere with learning. Early childhood developmental screening includes a vision screening that helps detect potential eye problems but is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam. If concerns are discovered during the screening process, additional evaluation is available to determine what kind of assistance would be most beneficial to the child. Screening gives children at least a year to work on areas of concern before entering kindergarten. If your child is on the school census you will be sent an appointment reminder. Please contact the Early Childhood Programs Center at 320-286-4120 to make sure your child is on the census.
We will begin screening again in the fall. If you have any immediate concerns regarding your child please call the Early Childhood Office to schedule a screening prior to that. 286-4120
